Salesforce is not a programming language like C, C++ or Java. First of all Salesforce is a company established in the year 1999. A company is the one which should provide services to its customers isn't it? Salesforce provides cloud based CRM software services to its clients. Salesforce provides SAAS and PAAS services.

What is CRM software?

CRM - Customer Relationship Management. CRM software is the one which helps to define, follow and track entire business cycle which is completely focused on customer.

Example:

I am starting a cycle manufacturing company. I am having my own shop to sell my cycles. In my shop I am having 2 employees who will be interacting with customers, they will be explaining our products to the customers. Initially I may get 1 or 2 customers. After a certain period my company is growing, my business is growing. My customer count is getting increased. My sales is also getting increased. I am getting more customers everyday. At this situation I have to handle my customers effectively, I have to collect my customer details and keep it safe. In case if any customer comes with complaints about my product I have to track the complaint. In case if the complaint has not been solved for longer period. I have to take immediate action. Marketing very crucial for a business growth. I want to plan a strategy for my company.

To achieve all the above activities I need a specialised software. That software is called CRM. There are many vendors in the market providing CRM softwares:

Any organisation who want to implement CRM functionality in their organisation. Say for example: Adidas - sportswear manufacturer, MRF - Tyre manufacturer, WalMart - Hypermarket and so on.

Who will be users of Salesforce CRM?

Employees who is working in an organisation will be the users of Salesforce. 

For example, let's take MRF company. The users will be the sales representative, marketing executive, staffs working in customer care, managers in different departments, CEO and other employees working in different roles will be users of Salesforce. Partners and customers as well.
